Dr. Tilman Baumgaertel is Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines, in Diliman, Manila, at the College of Mass Communication, where he teaches film and media studies. He served as an editor at the news daily Berliner Zeitung since 1999 and contributes to Telepolis, Die Zeit, die tageszeitung, Spiegel-Online, and a number of other publications. He studied German Literature, Media and History at Heinrich-Heine-Universität in Düsseldorf and at the State University of New York (Buffalo). He has published a dissertation about the filmmaker Harun Farocki and a number of other books on art and media.
